# Mindshare vs Proof-of-Impact

| 📊 Metric Layer | 🧠 Mindshare                   | ✅ Proof‑of‑Impact (PoI)            |
| --------------- | ------------------------------ | ---------------------------------- |
| What it is | Your share of the conversation | Outcomes that conversation creates |
| Signals | Mentions, replies, impressions | New holders, volume, user growth |
| Purpose         | Real‑time competition          | Settlement/reward weighting        |

WOM’s dual engine separates **reach** from **outcome**. Mindshare measures your share of the conversation; Proof‑of‑Impact (PoI) measures how that conversation converts into tangible results.

## Mindshare

Every mention, reply and impression that drives awareness contributes to your **Mindshare Score** — your *social reach layer*. Mindshare is updated in real time during a campaign.

{% hint style="info" %}
A high Mindshare tells us *who* is moving the conversation.
{% endhint %}

## Proof‑of‑Impact (PoI)

**The outcome layer, measuring whether attention actually mattered.**

Proof-of-Impact looks beyond raw reach and asks a simpler question:\
\&#xNAN;*Did this attention move anything forward?*

PoI evaluates the **downstream effects** of a campaign across a blend of signals, including:

* sustained engagement and follow-through
* signs of real interest, not drive-by impressions
* behavioral shifts that emerge after attention peaks

Rather than attributing a single action to a single post, PoI captures **directional impact over time**.

#### Why PoI matters

PoI acts as a **reputation signal**.

Creators who consistently turn attention into meaningful outcomes carry more weight in future campaigns simply because they’ve proven they can *convert belief into action*.

Over time, PoI becomes the difference between:

* being seen
* and being trusted

{% hint style="info" %}
**Rule of thumb:** Mindshare moves the crowd. PoI proves who moved the market.
{% endhint %}

## PoI Time Decay

Attention fades, so does PoI. WOM models this naturally to keep things fair and dynamic.

* **Rolling 45‑day activity window** per participant
* **≈2.5 % daily decay** once inactive
* **Reactivation** - post again to restore momentum

New participants start at a baseline multiplier of 1×. Consistent contributors typically reach 1.1×–1.2×. Impact decays with inactivity but never penalises new entrants.

axisFormat  %b %d

section Impact Multiplier
Baseline      :done,   base,  2025-01-01, 7d

Decaying :active, decay, after grow, 21d
Reactivated : react, after decay, 14d
" %}

The curve illustrates how impact grows with sustained activity, decays over time and can be reactivated by posting again.

{% hint style="warning" %}
PoI acts as a **lagging multiplier**, not a gatekeeper:

* New users start at **1× baseline**
* Top contributors typically reach **1.1× – 1.2×**
* Impact **decays with inactivity**
  {% endhint %}
